Since its inception in 1994, Global Collect has developed into one of the leading global payment service providers. Global Collect offers international e-commerce merchants the opportunity to enhance sales by enabling them to accept local payment solutions globally. Payment services are not part of TNT’s core business, which has led to this change of ownership. Ehrhardt Leus & Associates represented management in this transaction.
Current status:
Global Collect has grown its revenues by more than 50% annually, to over € 125 mln in 2010. The company was sold by Waterland, Prime and management to General Atlantic (a leading US-based private equity firm), within 2 years after the MBO took place, with a return of 20x the invested amount. Two years later, Global Collect was again sold, now by General Atlantic to Welsh Carson (a US-based private equity firm, specialized in the payment sector). Ehrhardt Leus & Associates has continued to support the management of Global Collect after the initial MBO took place.
